I work on the Flow team at target, which basically means I help unload the truck and stock the shelves at 5:30 in the morning. At first I thought it was going to be slow paced, simple, etc. Damn was I wrong.
Unloading the truck is the worst part. It reminds me a lot of that I Love Lucy episode where they get the job wrapping candy. Boxes come down the line and we have to put them on palettes based on what number is on the box. The boxes get stacked pretty high so if you mess that up the boxes will fall or you'll have to re-do it.
This usually lasts about an hour to an hour and a half. After that we have until 8 to get every box unpacked and on the shelves. Half the time we barely make it or are off by about 5 minutes, and there's about 30+ people doing this.
After my first few days, I had 7 blisters all together. Then again I'm lazy as hell so I wasn't expecting something quite so crazy. I love the job, but damn do I get tired. It never gets boring because there's always something to do, so that's a plus.
Good luck must be tiring !
ReplyDeleteThat's the most importent thing about Work, you need to like it if not it will be hell even if it's good payed.
ReplyDeletebetter than mine hahaha lol
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you man, thankfully you at least have a job in this economy, unlike the many unfortunate others out there.
ReplyDeleteI'll bet you're getting pretty ripped with such hard work
ReplyDeleteI'd love to have a job where I wouldn't have to wake up early! :)
ReplyDeleteye i can imagine
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought my restocking job sucked :p This sounds like hell! And 5:30 in the morning, does that time even exist?
ReplyDeleteyer can understand that must be tiring
ReplyDeleteWith Great jobs come great work. I am sure you will get used to it later.
ReplyDeleteDude, I totally understand you!
ReplyDeleteIt's better than sitting behind a computer all day. This is coming from experience.
ReplyDeletesounds like quite a work out! I'm sure getting up that early gives you some good sunrises to look at though
ReplyDeleteI used to work in Manufacturing. God I hated that. Worst job ever. Pay was crap. Work was hard. Kept doing things I was NOT supposed to do.
ReplyDeleteThats way i dont have a job :P
ReplyDeleteSounds intense man especially for 5:30 in the morning would have expected to be doing that work at night, after business hours.
ReplyDeleteLike the job that I was doing at Woolworths doing nightfill
I worked in Decathlon from time to time, my worst/best assigment was in destroy protocols. Some badass boss stands near and write papers while you devastate items he considers damaged so nobody would take them from trash cans behind the store. (I got few things from that job, backpack, 3 pairs of shoes, watch)
ReplyDeleteGood luck, I used to unload trucks at a super market back in high school. It's a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteHey I prefer these types of jobs because time goes by so much faster! I hate working at slow paced jobs... time goes by extremely slowly.
ReplyDeleteA lot of my friends work/ed at Target and none of them really like it. Various positions: from Starbucks to cashier.
ReplyDeleteCool blog. Following.

work = work :)
ReplyDeleteHave you seen the guy who cleans the snake pits? Thats = the worst job ever!:D
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I think you have a pretty damn good job, your out by 8am, you have the entire day to do whatever you want with it. With my job it takes up the most of the day an end up spending all night up just to have reasonable time off.
ReplyDeletesounds pretty good
ReplyDeleteits not too bad of hours i mean you get the whole day to do whatever. i have to work all day long and nights sometimes
ReplyDeleteSeems like a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteIt be a dream job to someone who was out of a job for a year..
ReplyDeleteReminds me of my job loading trucks for fed ex several years ago. That was pure hell, especially for a summer job. And to give you guys a heads up, us fed ex employees did not care at all about your packages. We stood on them and threw them around.
ReplyDeleteEgh, would not want this job. I had a job where I had to take count of inventory, what a pain in the ass...
ReplyDeletedamn, I've never had a real job so I cant relate...
ReplyDeleteI hear ya... I've worked those types of jobs before. I like how you get mad strong after some time though. Hang in there, I'm sure the money's worth it.
ReplyDeleteWow, it sounds like it can get pretty hectic.
ReplyDeletemy girlfriends uncle loads boxes similarly like you into UPS trucks
ReplyDeleteheard its hard work but you might lose a few pounds doing this also Lol
I feel the same way from time to time.
ReplyDeletesorry about the blisters :(
ReplyDeleteI've done this sort of job before, it can be tiring. Just stick with it and think of the exercise you're getting!!!
ReplyDeleteseven blisters is impressive.
ReplyDeleteI had a kinda similar job a few years ago, and I found that a physically demanding job was very good for me.
ReplyDeleteCool blog man! keep up the great work!
ReplyDeleteGood post ! :)
ReplyDeleteI love jobs where you always have something to do, that way the time goes way faster and you dont get boored, only really really hungry :) Check out my blog :)
