Car Update

My dad finally the the dent out of the back of my car. I really don't know how he does it. Years of experience if I could guess. Bondo is awesome I suppose.

Anyway, it's been buffed on the hood, the engine is great, and really it'd be ready once we get it cleaned up. After all the bullshit paperwork and legal mumbo jumbo and all of that. In other news, I have no focus whatsoever. I'm bored as hell right now. I'd love to go and make a map on Starcraft or do something productive, but i'm just too lazy to learn or even do anything. Maybe I should go work out.

Also, sorry about the lack of updates recently. I've been pretty busy the past couple of days. My girlfriend moved to go  to school and I went down yesterday to help her out. She's going into pre-vet and she already bought a betta for her dorm room. She really can't stay away from animals for long.

Parakeets

Everyone on mumble knows that I have parakeets. They know damn well. Those things squawk like a mother fucker. Anyway, I used to think I had 2 males and 1 female. That is until every single one of them laid eggs. Yeah, that was a bit of a shock. The thing is though, they keep laying them from on top of their perch, which is pretty high up. They crack as soon as they lay them. I guess it really doesn't even matter though, considering there's no male to fertilize them. That's too bad though, I was looking forward to terrorizing mumble with baby parakeets.

Dawn Soap

Man, Dawn soap is the shit. I always knew it was a pretty good dish soap, but I had no idea how much other shit it could be used for. And no, i'm not getting paid to say any of this. I spent about 5 hours cleaning my new-ish car a few days ago, and I used dawn soap with water and it worked like a fucking charm. The water coming off the car by the way was orange. That's how nasty that thing was. So yeah, dawn soap. It's apparently not just for dishes. Soap is soap I guess.

Just Cause 2

A lot of people have heard about it already but there's a mod currently that turns Just Cause 2 into a 5000 person multiplayer server. It's currently in alpha I believe but it's batshit insane. Those of you who don't know about it, Just Cause 2 is a sand box action third person shooter. It contains grappling hooks, lots of guns, vehicles, and explosions. The world is absolutely massive, and gorgeous and all of it is playable in the multiplayer. It works amazingly and surprisingly well.

The server itself is only up on weekends for a day or two, and usually will skip a week or two. I can only imagine how much a 5000 player server can cost, and they're not releasing details on how much it costs them. The syncing is astonishingly accurate as well, with very very little delay. One fun thing to do with a friend is that you can use the grappling hook to attach 2 objects, vehicles, or enemies together. We tried making a kite by attaching an airplane to a car, and you can only imagine how well that worked out. Things only like to attach if both players are hooking the same object together though. That's most likely in place to prevent griefing, but that pretty much happens any way it can otherwise.

If you don't have it already, I highly suggest picking it up. It goes down to about $5 dollars during sales, and the single player itself is very fun anyway.

New-ish Car

I've been driving my 2000 Mercury Mountaineer for about.. I'd say four years, which is when I got my license. It's served its purpose well, but now i'm heading off to college which will be 30 minutes away. It's going to be a pain in the ass for gas, so I've been keeping my eyes peeled for something else to drive.

My parents recently found out that one of their close friends had a friend who owned a 1997 Volkswagen Cabrio. It hadn't been driven in 5 years and had been sitting in a pole barn the whole time, but otherwise it's in great condition, and only 500 dollars. We're picking it up within the next couple of days and my dad will work on it. He's been a mechanic for practically his whole life so it shouldn't even be a problem. Although, I will now have to learn stick shift. It shouldn't be too hard, right? Right?

I'm Probably late on this

Starcraft 2 patch 1.5 was released.. Sometime within the last few days. Normally I wouldn't really care because I suck at SC2 and I could care less about balance. One thing that's amazing about this though is that it has been dubbed the Arcade Patch. What this means is that it completely reworks how custom games work. I BELIEVE that they still have the popular map bullshit and all that that almost ruined the custom game scene, minus the 5 dota clones that are shit, but it adds in lobbies.

This is a pretty big change as it was one of the main reasons that people just didn't care about making maps in SC2, nobody would ever play them unless you advertised them specifically. New maps were tossed aside and never given a chance, and the Fun or Not crap that they tried still would play games within the first few pages of the popularity. A vast majority of my childhood was spent playing SC and WC3 custom games, so it's safe to say that i'm very excited about this. I hope that this paves the way for a new era of UMS gaming.
